π¨ My Favorite Art Tools & Why I Love Them
Hello, lovely hearts!???? Welcome back to Sharmila Vibes Journey, my tiny haven of self-expression, creativity, and vibrant energy. I wanted to share something very special and personal with you today: my top picks for art supplies and the reasons I adore using them in my creative process.
These tools have helped me bring my ideas to life, and I'm excited to share them with you, regardless of whether you're an artist like me, a hobbyist, or just interested in art.1. Sketchbook (My Idea Safe Haven)
I think of my sketchbook as my second brain. I make use of it to:
Write down your initial thoughts.
Practise your newly acquired abilities.
Express emotions without apologising
Why I adore it: It's simply real, even though it's not flawless. Every sloppy drawing is still successful in this place of freedom for me.✏️ Tip: I use a hardcover sketchbook with thick pages so I can use both pencil and ink freely.
π¨ 2. Watercolor Set (Magic in a Palette)
Watercolors are my go-to when I want to feel the flow and create something soft, dreamy, or emotional.
Why I love it: Watercolors remind me that not everything can be controlled—and that’s beautiful. They blend, surprise, and make every piece unique.
π¨ I personally use a 24-color travel set that’s compact but super vibrant!
✍️ 3. Micron Pens (For Bold Lines & Details)
When I’m outlining or adding fine details to my art, Micron pens are my BFFs. They come in different sizes and are waterproof too!
Why I love them: They help bring clarity to my sketches and add that final “pop” that makes the piece come alive.
π 4. Colored Pencils (For Calm & Control)
Some days, I just want to slow down and feel every stroke. That’s when colored pencils shine.
Why I love them: They allow for precision and layering, perfect for shading and soft textures. It’s a peaceful process that I enjoy deeply.
✨ I use Faber-Castell and Prismacolor pencils—they’re super smooth and pigmented.
𧽠5. Blending Tools (Game-Changers!)
Whether I’m working with pencil, charcoal, or pastels, blending tools like tortillons, blending stumps, and soft tissues help me create smooth transitions.
Why I love them: They give that soft, professional finish—and honestly, blending is soooo satisfying. π
π§ Bonus: Music While Creating πΆ
Okay, not an art “tool” exactly—but I always create with music in the background. It sets the mood, sparks imagination, and helps me stay in the flow.
π΅ From classical to lo-fi to Bollywood vibes—I let the music guide my strokes.
π¬ Final Thoughts
Your tools don’t have to be expensive to be powerful. What matters is how they make you feel and how they help you express your inner world. These tools are part of my journey, and I hope they inspire you to pick up yours too.
π What are YOUR favorite art tools? I’d love to hear about them in the comments!
